Vacation !!

Just got my holiday approved until beginning of May 2007. Delighted! Booked my flight as well. I only had to pay for Dhaka-Dubai flight. As a frequent flyer, I got the Manchester-Dubai flight for free! Can't complain!! Hoping to chill out in Bangladesh Inshallah..no work..no hassle..just chill out!!

MEN Arena convention

Went to Manchester Evening News Arena for the A Call to Humanity-Islamic convention. I just went to see Dr Zakir Naik. His speech was outstanding as usual. Had a great day with Mohibor and Amir. Also saw about 10,000 Bangalis in MEN Arena. The convention was full to its capacity of 18,000. Junaid joined us in the evening. We had a meal in Rusholme.

Miami Vice

Just watched Lord of the War couple of hours ago. Quite good movie. Thought provoking. Zahir has got a student visa for UK. He probably will be coming over this september. Not sure yet. Just watched prehistoric park on ITV. Really good progamme. Looking forward to watch the next episode. Went to AMC in the evening to watch Miami Vice, okay movie. Same old Cop story. Bit raunchy. The Chinese actress Gong Lee got gangbanged by every single cast there was in the movie.Looks like she has a hangover from the movie 'Memoirs of Geisha'. Some good action. Rate 6.5 out of 10.

Autumn homecoming

I am taking a year out. More or less final. Not in the mood of studying this year. I will do my postgrad next year Inshallah. My cousin Kashmir's death anniversary today. I don't remember much about her. She used to go to my playgroup with me in Chittagong as I wasn't really keen on going on my own. She used to sit with me inside the playgroup until the day was over. She got married in our house. I still remember her Mehndi night. Me, Jasmin Apa, Shurid Bhai, Shoeb Bhai and Suraiya Apu all were up till late night decorating our house. Her wedding took place in a club called 'Festival' on O. R. Nizam Road, Chittagong. Right after her wedding she came back to UK. Next time I saw her was on the wedding of my cousin Robel. Didn't get a chance to speak to her properly that time. But I remember she filled the application form for my passport renewal. I pray to Allah that she is granted Jannah in the afterlife. Today is also the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh

Firoza Begum

Had an average day at work. No mishaps! Came home, and started to download Firoza Begum's "Nazrul Geetee". Those who don't know Firoza Begum- she is a prominent Bangladeshi singer who shot to fame by singing songs of Bangladeshi National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam are known as "Nazrul Geetee". I remember, I was about 5 and my younger brother Towhid was about 2, my mum used to sit down with us and used to teach us how sing Nazrul's song 'Shukno Patar Nupur Paye' and 'Momer Putul'. Really miss those days, I wish I could go back to those days, carefree, full of fun. I just have been able to reminisce those days thanks to Firoza Begum's song. Long live Firoza Begum and bring back those memories of my childhood again and again.

Less sleep more dream...why?

Just finished watching Gladiator now, 6 years too late. Brillitant film. Should've watched long time ago. I've just realised that at least 12-14 hours of my day is spent in front of computer or on the phone. Alarming! I need to get back to a normal life. I am back to work again tomorrow. Kind of feels good to end the lazy life I had for last few days.

Dure bohudure gangchil

I want a new laptop, went to Trafford Centre this afternoon. Liked a Fujitsu-Siemens one, but still not sure if should buy it. I am thinking of deferring my MBA and go to Bangladesh this year. Need a long overdue break. Tired of living in a hostile and unhelpful environment. Spoke to Samdani after a long time. Klanti nie boe jae birohi prohor..

Non stop movies

I have been watching movies not stop since yesterday. Watched Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12, both fantastic movies. Then moved on to Jet Li collection, watched Cradle 2 the grave, Romeo must die and Kiss of the dragon. All good movies.

I've just realised that If I leave UK tomorrow, the thing I'll miss the most is my guitar. Amazing, considering that I've only had the guitar for just over a month or so. I also found out that, I can get a free return ticket to Dhaka with Emirates using my Skywards miles.

Surah An-Nur

Just read few interesting verses from Surah An-Nur, the 24th Surah from Holy Quran. Here are the Ayah 2 and 3 from Surah An-Nur which really caught my eyes, it's about how illicit relationship is treated in Islam. Hopefully the muslim friends and the regular readers of my blog will benefit from these verses. " 24-2: The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by God, if ye believe in God and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. 24-3: Let no man guilty of adultery or fornication marry any but a woman similarly guilty, or an Unbeliever: nor let any but such a man or an Unbeliever marry such a woman: to the Believers such a thing is forbidden. " Surah An-Nur, Al Qur'an From my understanding, (May Allah forgive me if I am wrong) the Ayah No 3 basically means that a muslim male or female is not allowed to marry a p

Me, Keano and Junaid

Met up with Keano and Junaid in the afternoon. Roamed around in town. Keano went back home. Had an average day. Bit weird. Feel tired. Not sure why. Amir came out of hospital today after spending 2 days in there. Mohib just phoned me to say that he booked me the ticket for the conference at MEN.

Day off

Got 5 days off starting from today, Keano went to drop off his application in the morning and Junaid went home to revise. Met up with Junaid and Keano later on. Had good fun.

wooosa !!

Just spoke to Keano couple of hours ago, he is coming to Manchester tomorrow to sit for the Police exam. I have booked off rest of the week from work, so hoping to have a good time over next few days. 'Shahana' chapter is now officially closed.

Three Stooges

Keano has arrived, so has Junaid. Muneeb just bought a new Saab and joined us as well for dinner in Rusholme. Went out again with Junaid and Keano for a walk. Wathed Jet Li's Fearless. Also helped Keano to prepare for interview. Junaid and Keano stayed over at mine.
