Back to Dhaka

Got back to Chittagong by Shohagh Paribahan. The coach service was very good. The seat of the bus has massagers! Amazing. It was a good tour overall. I have been longing to go to Chittagong for a long time. It was like a dream come true for me. But I was disappointed to see the development initiatives (or the lack of it) of Chittagong. There is a clear difference in the pace of the development of Dhaka and Chittagong. I think the government should take more initiatives to convert Chittagong into a world class city.

Another Day in Chittagong

In the morning went to Mejho Fupu’s house. I then went to the Bank to open an account for Bindi. Finished off most of the formalities. After having lunch at Mejho Fupu’s house I went to see my Choto Fupu and then went to meet Apollo. Roamed around Chittagong for a while. And then got back home.

A day in Chittagong

Went to get my certificates from college. Met my old lecturers there. All were happy to see me. Picked up the certificate and then went to school. My old Chittagong Collegiate School. Still magnificent! After picking up my certificate, I went to New Market, Mimi Super Market and few other old shopping malls. Went to Foy’s Lake after that. A lot changed there. Good development. Then Josna Apu started shouting at me coz I didn’t go to her house. So I had to go there and stayed there for the night. [The picture is of me standing in front of my college]

Chittagong Again

Spoke to Miraz on the phone and decided to fly off to Chittagong to collect my SSC and HSC certificates. Rushed to the airport, got the ticket and flew off. Chittagong looks an altogether different city. But not in a good way. After spending 6 months in Dhaka. Chittagong looks like a poor city to me. Went to my old places where I spent my childhood. Nothing changed. That can’t be too good. In comparison, Dhaka changed rapidly over last few years.

A grateful nation remembers its heros.

It’s 26 th of March again. Independence Day of Bangladesh. The independence of Bangladesh was declared on this very day in 1971 following the genocide committed by Pakistani Army. The grateful nation remembers the heroes of war of independence, which brought the us the sovereign Bangladesh. This is the first time in 6 years I am celebrating Independence Day in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi flag is flying high from my rooftop.

Bangladesh moves to Super Eights

Bangladesh Cricket team have progressed to the second round of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 after beating India and Bermuda. Hoping for 6 good matches in the Super Eights Stage. This is the first time Bangladesh Cricket team have progressed to the second round of the world cup after beating Bermuda on 25 th of March. The day 25/03/2007 will be remembered fondly by the Cricket loving Bangladeshis in the future. Before yesterday, the only memory for 25 th of March was the memory of genocide committed by the Pakistani Army, which took place in 1971.

Tiger Army Destroys India

I should feel knackered from being up all night and shouting cheering Bangladesh Cricket team. But I feel just the opposite. Whole Bangladesh feel the same. Bangladesh has defeated India in their first match in the Cricket World Cup 2007 by 5 wickets. It's not the fact that Bangladesh won making me feel good. It's the way they defeated India. India looked like an underdog in front of Bangladeshi young tigers. I've just been reading the Indian press- they have slaughtered their cricketers. One person died in Gujarat as he couldn't cope with India's tragic defeat. May his soul rest in peace. I hope that Bangladesh goes to the 2nd round and plays few more good games in the next stage of the World Cup.

Dost

Had a get together with friends after a long time. Rana was treating for his job at HSBC. We went to Ninfa's in Gulshan for a buffet dinner. 8 of us went there, and had great fun.
